"When a barbarian feels thirst, it is a thirst for blood". How poetic. Not that eloquence was ever a requirement for Marcus Nispel's Conan the Barbarian. We knew it was going to be light in the head from the moment muscle bound runway model Jason Momoa was cast as Robert E. Howard's iconic character.
A new red band trailer for the film has been released, and it confirms no bucket of fake blood will go unturned. What gives me pause is that I got the distinct whiff of Paul W.S. Anderson all over this one, even though the guy has nothing to do with this film at all. It just looks absurdly silly, and what few bits of dialogue we get are pure howlers. I'm still cautiously optimistic for no other reason than I'm a sucker for sword and sorcery flicks.
Conan the Barbarian rolls into theaters on August 19th!
