Trailer Time: The Muppets, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams

After three semi-hilarious spoof trailers for The Muppets, I was really hoping we'd get an actual one that showed exactly what we might expect. Well somebody over at Disney must've been listening because the first real trailer for the film has been released, and it's fantastic. I saw it for the first time a couple of hours ago ahead of a screening of Cars 2, so if you don't want to watch it now you can check it out on next weekend on the big screen....

They're doing a pretty good job of keeping the dozens of cameos hidden away, which is smart considering the focus should be on The Muppets themselves. All the fear I had that this might suck has gone away completely, as it seems as if Jason Segel and Nick Stoller, along with director James Bobin, have gotten the tone of the old school Muppets exactly right. It's still a little weird seeing Fozzie's feet, but whatever.

The Muppets hits theaters on November 23rd!

PLOT
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
