Antoine Fuqua to direct crime drama, Storming Las Vegas

Antoine Fuqua is a solid director. Always has been, but I find it kinda humorous that after arguably his weakest film, Brooklyn's Finest, the director is suddenly at his busiest. He's got so many projects lined up I'm wondering if he's not the long lost African-American brother of Robert Rodriguez. After flip flopping on it, Fuqua is back directing his 2pac biopic. He's got some sort of Chinese epic set during the Tang Dynasty. And let's not forget he'll direct Southpaw, the boxing drama starring Eminem. The crazy thing is that's only half the films Fuqua's name is attached to. But who's counting?

Fuqua's just added one more film to his schedule, as Summit Entertainment has hired him to direct Storming Las Vegas. Based on the non-fiction book by John Huddy, Storming Las Vegas: How a Cuban-Born, Soviet-Trained Commando Took Down The Strip to the Tune of Five World Class Hotels, Three Armored Cars, and Millions of Dollars, it's the story of Jose Vigoa, a Cuban born soldier in the Russian army, who went on a 16-month crime spree with his crew robbing blind the richest casinos in Vegas.

Sounds a little bit like an urban Ocean's Eleven. No word on when this will go into production, so let's see if it actually happens.
