Trailer Time: Red Tails, produced by George Lucas

Red Tails isn't the first film to cover the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, the group of African-American fighter pilots who fought bravely during WWII. However it may end up being the best, if this new trailer is any indication.  Featuring a story by producer George Lucas(yes, that George Lucas) and a script by John Ridley(Three Kings), it features an expansive cast including Terrence Howard, Ne-Yo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston, David Oyelowo, Method Man, Tristan Wilds, Lee Tergesen, and many more. Anthony Hemingway(The Wire) directed, although Lucas himself took over on reshoots while Hemingway was off doing work on the HBO series, Treme.  Check out the trailer below...

Pretty damn intense. Certainly looks better than the Tuskegee Airmen's last big screen appearance as a cameo in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. It also looks like Lucas has spared no expense in making the time period as authentic as possible.

Red Tails is due to hit theaters on January 20th 2012, which is a busy week for the typically slow month. Underworld: Awakening and Steven Soderbergh's revenge flick, Haywire, also come out that day.
