Christian Slater and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje join Sylvester Stallone action flick
Watching Sylvester Stallone and Walter Hill try to piece together this action flick of theirs has become quite the entertaining debacle. First there was the whole firing of Wayne Kramer(The Cooler) over "creative differences", leading to the signing of the veteran Hill(The Warriors). Then there was the unceremonious dumping of Thomas Jane from the cast because he's a bit light in the skin tone department. Proving that he did in fact learn something from Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, Stallone and Co. knew no self respecting buddy cop pic would ever present a duo so Caucasian. The fact that they can't even decide on a name for the film(Headshot, Headshots, Head Shot, now untitled) only adds to the comedy. Even the cast has a sortof B-level charm to it that could make this a great, fun crime story or a disastrously serious one.
Based on the graphic novel, Bullet to the Head, Stallone is a hitman who teams up with a young NYPD detective to get revenge for their partners' murders. Jane was meant to play detective, but a couple of weeks ago we learned that Sung Kang(Fast Five) would take over. Sarah Shahi(Fairly Legal) and Jason Momoa(Conan the Barbarian) are in as well. And now we've got three more additions in Christian Slater(Heathers) and Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbaje(GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra), and Holt McCallany(The Losers).
Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be the film's lead villain, an scandal-laden attorney scamming victims of Hurricane Katrina. Sounds like he'll be the boss of Momoa's assassin character. Slater is a local middleman, while McCallany is a dirty cop. [Variety]
