Chuck Norris, John Travolta part of The Expendables 2?

Simon West(The Mechanic, Con Air) is the man who'll be spearheading The Expendables 2, which guarantees us all more geriatric, BenGay stinking musclebound action.  Part of the fun of the first film came months before shooting had even begun, as literally every 1980s cheeseball who ever held a gun bigger than his head was invited to participate. The Expendables might've been a disappointment, but the build up was awesome.  So far the rumors floating around the sequel have been pretty much the same.  Jean Claude Van Damme joining, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger with expanded roles...yadda yadda.

Well now there are a couple of new potentials to add to the list, only one of which might be something of a surprise. David Varodd, CEO of Nu Boyana studios in Bulgaria was giving an interview with Novinite and said this...

Varod: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke…who else? Of course, Bruce Willis. The director is Simon West, who is also a name. He is already here and has started working on the film. I believe the sequel will be better than the first movie.

Chuck Norris makes sense. The aged butt kicker is probably the most recognizable screen martial artist ever other than Bruce Lee. Or Jackie Chan. Anything to keep Norris from appearing on more far right wing radio shows.  Everytime he opens his mouth I find a new reason to hate him.  But John Travolta? I can only assume he'd play a bad guy, probably similar to the one he played in Swordfish. I mean, they can't possibly think of making him part of the team of heroes, can they? Did they see From Paris With Love?

Not that Varod's list should be considered complete, but I'm a little worried about the omissions of Jet Li, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Randy Couture. I'm hoping it was just an oversight.  The Expendables 2 is set to open next year on August 17th. [Collider]
