The Expendables 2 wishlist includes Taylor Lautner, Nicolas Cage, and Christian Slater

The dream casting of The Expendables 2 continues unabated, although it should be noted that in the reality based community none of the names we've heard rumored: Jean-Claude Van Damme, John Travolta, and Chuck Norris among them, has actually signed on to anything yet. The closest would appear to be JCVD, who was offered a role in the first film but was too good for it back then. Now comes a report from Moviehole that adds even more possibilites to the already extensive wishlist: Taylor Lautner, Christian Slater, Nicolas Cage, and Christopher Lambert.

Of course Simon West and Sly Stallone have these names on their list! I'm betting you'll find Fred Ward and Cynthia Rothrock on there, too. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, too. This isn't really saying anything except that they have any actor on their radar who has even thought about being an action star. What exactly puts Slater on this list? Kuffs??

Unless he's carrying around a sword and cutting off people's heads, nobody cares if Lambert gets in the film, ok? Highlander was a long ass time ago, and he'd bring even less to the table than that shell of a Dolph Lundgren did.

The two big names are obviously Lautner and Cage. Lautner is new to the action hero scene with Abduction coming out in a few months. There's about as much chance of him joining the cast as me, and if we see him in The Expendables 2 I'll dress up as Bella Swann for Halloween. It's not happening, he's just too busy. Cage is a perfect fit, though. He'd make for one hell of a wacky villain, and frankly could use a hit, even if he's not the lead dog in it.

Who knows how this thing will turn out? I just hope that unlike the last film, the casting isn't more exciting than the end product.
