Trailer Time: The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton

So far, Peter Hedges is batting 1.000 with me, and I'm afraid at some point he's going to slip. He wrote a beautiful script for What's Eating Gilbert Grape way back in 1993, and then helped adapt Nick Hornby's novel About a Boy for the big screen. Hedges made his directorial debut shortly thereafter with the little seen but much loved holiday film, Pieces of April, and followed that up with the Steve Carell adult dramedy, Dan in Real Life. All films I like quite a bit, and I've been curious to see what Hedges would do next.

That film is The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which has a title that will probably have you thinking of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Based on an idea from Ahmet Zappa(seriously), it stars Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Garner as a childless married couple who can only dream about what their kid would be like. That is until a boy shows up on their doorstep the next day claiming to be their son, Tim. Eh?  The first trailer for the film has been released, and you shouldn't need the fat Disney logo to tell you this one comes from the House of Mouse. Check it out below...

I think maybe I'd been hoping for something a bit more mature from Hedges, but this looks like it's a kiddie film all the way.  No word on when it'll hit theaters, but expect it some time in 2012.
