Trailer Time: Twixt, written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola

Maybe I had to be there. At Comic-Con I mean, at supposedly amazing presentation of Francis Ford Coppola's new gothic horror, Twixt. The ideas Coppola presented, using a form of live music provided by Dan Deacon, taking the film on the road on a multi-city tour, and being able to pull a switcheroo on the scenes to change the narrative flow, all sound great. I wish I could've been there, because this trailer doesn't convince me of anything.

Twixt stars Val Kilmer as a failed mystery writer who turns up in a small town investigating a murder. Weird crap starts happening involving the ghost of a dead girl(Elle Fanning) and Edgar Allan Poe(Ben Chaplin).  My first impression was that it looks sorta cheap, like a bad 30 minute series you'd see on Showtime at 3am. Then we get into the darker stuff, and it's clear this is where Coppola spent the majority of his energy.  Val Kilmer seems to fit right in to the weird vibe Coppola's trying to foster. Check out the trailer for yourself...

Twixt stars Kilmer, Fanning, Chaplin, Bruce Dern, Alden Ehrenreich, David Paymer, and more.
