Laurence Fishburne is Perry White in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel

While it appears we won't be getting a J. Jonah Jameson in the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, Zack Snyder and Co. aren't about to do the same to Clark Kent's demanding editor-in-chief at the Daily Planet. Entertainment Weekly reports that Laurence Fishburne(Predators, Apocalypse Now) will play Perry White in Man of Steel.


For the last few years Fishburne was dividing his time on the big screen with playing Dr. Raymond Langston on CSI. He just recently left the show, and will be appearing later this year in Contagion, directed by Steven Soderbergh. He also had a brief but crazy turn in Predators last year.

I'll be curious to see if there's an uproar over an African-American playing the very Caucasian news man, the same way there was over Idris Elba playing a mythological figure in Thor.   I'd be a little disappointed if there wasn't!

He joins a cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Antje Traue, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, and Julia Ormond.  Man of Steel flies into theater on June 14th 2013.
