Sure Shots: The Muppets; Nathan Lane; Roland Emmerich

* Notice anybody's name missing from the final cast list for The Muppets? It's somebody famous. He used to be a 40 Year Old Virgin and spent a lot of time at The Office before falling in Crazy Stupid Love with being a solo big screen star? Yeah, Steve Carell. Due to scheduling the funnyman isn't part of the featured cameos in the film. That's ok. There are like 30 other people having a cup of coffee in this thing. You can count them all for yourself when it hits theaters on November 23rd.

* Overrated actor Nathan Lane(sorry, the guy's just not funny) has joined the cast of The English Teacher, the indie comedy starring Julianne Moore as a...well, an english teacher who convinces one of her ex-pupils to direct his unproduced stageplay at the school. Hilarity ensues. Greg Kinnear co-stars, with Lane playing a drama teacher . Craig Zisk(The Big C, Weeds) makes his big screen directing debut. [Deadline]

* I'd call Roland Emmerich(Independence Day) overrated as well, but that wouldn't be true. Nobody gives him props for being a good director, just one who makes bad but profitable flicks. One that seemed right up his alley was an adaptation of the 1980s video game, Asteroids. No doubt it would've been a tour de force, but surprisingly Emmerich has revealed he turned the job down in order to pursue Singularity, the sci-fi film we first heard about last year. Few details are known, but he has revealed to Collider that it'll take place 40 years in the future and deal with what happens when we lose control of our advanced computer technology. Shooting could begin as soon as next March. Emmerich's Shakespeare conspiracy flick, Anonymous, hits theaters on October 28th.
