To say that Matthew Goode's recent acting career has led him to tackle some very different roles would be an understatement. He's been the apple of Amy Adams' eye(Leap Year), the apple of Colin Firth's eye(A Single Man), and a supervillain bent on world destruction(Watchmen) all in the span of a couple of years. His biggest break probably came back in 2005 when he got to work with Woody Allen on Match Point, and next he'll tackle Stoker, the english language debut of South Korean director Park Chan-Wook. Goode is definitely a star on the rise.
One of Toronto's quiet gems(from the few people I've spoken to anyway) was Burning Man, Jonathan Teplizky's semi-autobiographical film about a successful chef(Goode) who reacts to a near death experience by throwing all caution to the wind. This leads the women in his life to fight to save him from spiraling totally out of control, in hopes that he can reconnect with his 8-year old son. Bojana Novakovic(Seven Pounds), Rachel Griffiths(Six Feet Under), Kerry Fox, Anthony Hayes, and Essie Davies co-star. No word on a release date yet but I expect we'll see it some time in 2012.
