8-minute The Dark Knight Rises prologue attached to IMAX Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol

Consider this a rumor for now, but a source has alerted Slashfilm that Warner Brothers plans to attach an 8-minute prelude to The Dark Knight Rises to all IMAX showings of Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol. While the  Christopher Nolan Bat-flick is through WB, and MI is through Paramount, the arrangement makes sense for both parties as many will attend just for a glimpse at what the final Batman film has in store. Mission: Impossible is opening early exclusively in IMAX on December 16th, before rolling out nationally on December 21st.

Warner Brothers did something like this before with The Dark Knight back in 2007, attaching it to Will Smith's I Am Legend. The Dark Knight had a number of it's biggest sequences shot in IMAX, and Nolan wanted to give people a taste of it by previewing the amazing bank robbery sequence.

So assuming this is true, will this be enough to get you to see Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol a little bit early and for more money? If your plan is to just wait until those 8-minutes turn up on the internet, remember that the 8-minute preview of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo still hasn't been made available.
