Scott Derrickson to direct Charlize Theron in American remake of Zwart Water

The name Scott Derrickson might not mean a whole lot, but since last two films, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Day the Earth Stood Still took in nearly $400M, chances are you know his work. In recent months he's been attached to helm a 300-style adaptation of David and Goliath(with Dwayne Johnson and Taylor Lautner possibly), but he's just signed on to a film which will hopefully put that one on the backburner. Forever.

THR reports that Derrickson will direct an American remake of the Dutch horror, Zwart Water(aka Two Eyes Staring). Charlize Theron will star, after snagging the rights to the film last year. The twisty tale centers on a 9 year old girl who discovers her new friend is actually the ghost of her mother's dead twin. Say wha??

After a little bit of a lull in her career(anyone remember Aeon Flux? Anybody?), Theron is everywhere lately. December sees her starring in Jason Reitman's mature comedy, Young Adult. And next year sees her in Ridley Scott's Prometheus, and Snow White and the Huntsman.
