Game of Thrones star Kit Harington joins Arthur & Lancelot
I like what Warner Brothers is doing with Arthur & Lancelot, the reimiagining of the classic tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round. The studio is putting their full weight behind the film and writer/director David Dobkin(Wedding Crashers), so much so that they were quick to pass on Bryan Singer and Guy Ritchie's Camelot movies. The first bold move was in selecting fast rising star, Joel Kinnaman(The Killing), for the role of Lancelot. And now they've added another popular young actor for the other lead role of King Arthur.
Kit Harington, currently slayin' 'em as Jon Snow on HBO's Game of Thrones, will play the King and friend/rival to Lancelot, in the film that's being described as being in the vein of Braveheart. Along with appearing in the next season of 'Thrones', Harington recently wrapped filming of Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which should open next year.
Filming on Arthur & Lancelot should begin early 2012, with a planned release on March 15th 2013. [Variety]
