Kathryn Bigelow's Kill Bin Laden moved to December 2012

Now that a few opportunistic politicians have been distracted by Occupy Wall Street, their phony outrage over Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming Osama Bin Laden flick has subsided. If you recall, there was a lot of bullcrap thrown around by some Republican congressman, claiming that the Obama administration had fed Bigelow and writer Mark Boal inside information in hopes that the film would be a boost to his upcoming campaign. There wasn't any actual proof, and I might add none of these folks complain when government insiders feed the exact same type of info to guys like Tom Clancy on a regular basis. Whatever.

The outcry had it's desired effect, and the initial October 2012 release date got bumped, with some reports saying it wouldnt' come out until 2013. Fortunately we won't have to wait that long, as it's now been set for release on December 19th 2012. That puts it into the thick of the busiest week in the busiest month of the year, where it'll square off with Ang Lee's Life of Pi, Judd Apatow's This is Forty, Brad Pitt's World War Z, and Antoine Fuqua's Hunter Killer. Want to know what else comes out in December? A little thing called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Oh, and Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, along with Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. Phew! My typing fingers are tired already.

After having Joel Edgerton rumored for the lead for months, Jason Clarke(The Wettest County in the World) is the only one confirmed to star right now. Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Jennifer Ehle, Rooney Mara and Nina Arianda are said to be eying parts. And I'm still holding out hope Edgerton will come back, especially in light of his turning down the 300 sequel. Going under the working title of Kill Bin Laden, the story will focus on the elite squad's hunt for Bin Laden, leading to the intense firefight that led to his demise.
