Marvel picks 'Game of Thrones' director, Alan Taylor, to direct 'Thor' sequel

Marvel appears to have finally put an end to their troubles finding a director to take over their Thor sequel. Then again, we thought it was over when Brian Kirk was named, and then again when Patty Jenkins was hired. Both of them left, and in recent weeks two Game of Thrones directors were said to be the frontrunners for the job: Alan Taylor and Daniel Minehan. Deadline reports that Marvel has made their choice and it's Taylor, who hasn't directed a full-length feature since 2003's Kill the Poor. Anybody see it? Didn't think so.

Marvel seems intent on going with cheaper lesser known talent for the job, which to me doesn't bode well. Or maybe they were just in a hurry, since Jenkins' abrupt put the film's November 15th 2013 release date in jeopardy. The entire cast is expected to return for the sequel, including stars Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman.
