Trailer Time: 'Bad Ass', starring Danny Trejo as the Epic Beard Man!

Seriously. This is what movies have sunk to, creating an entire feature film that on it's face appears to be based on the Epic Beard Man, who became a Youtube sensation back in 2010 after a violent, racially charged altercation on a bus. In case you may have forgotten, it was in February of last year when 67-year old Thomas Bruso, wearing a shirt which read "I Am a Motherfucker" got into a heated exchange with a 50-year old African-American man named Michael. The video, which is below, doesn't show how the argument started, but it quickly devolves into racial slurs, egged on in a lot of cases by the bus's passengers. As things heat up, Michael jabs Bruso in the chest, and then catches a combination platter to the face from the old man. Check out the Youtube vid and see for yourself....

Nearly 5 million people have seen that video, and Bruso became an internet star. Although if you look at it, he's really sortof a jerkoff, and clearly unstable. Not seen in the video is that Bruso continued to rage on afterwards about Vietnam and some other stuff. He was eventually taken in for psychological evaluation. Regardless, does Bruso strike you as a hero by any stretch of the word?

Craig Moss(The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It) seems to think so, which brings us to his new film, Bad Ass. While it doesn't explicitly claim to be an Epic Beard Man movie, the similarities are pretty clear. From the look of star Danny Trejo's beard, to the similar way he's dressed, the attitude, to his Vietnam vet backstory, the whole thing screams "ripped from the headlines" version of Hobo with a Shotgun. Rather than having him get into a brawl with a black guy, they have him saving a black man from a pair of skinheads. He then goes on to become some sort of citywide vigilante hero. Ugh.  Ron Perlman and Charles Dutton co-star. Check out the trailer below...

The film is set for release on April 24th, which our friends at BleedingCool have surmised means it'll likely be straight-to-DVD.
