New image of Michael Fassbender in 'Prometheus'
It's predictable to expect a flood of Oscar worthy films to all crash theaters at the end of the year like this, but what is unusual is to see such a flurry of activity surrounding the movies of next year. Or even 2013. This week alone we've seen trailers for The Hobbit, The Dark Knight Rises, and let's throw in Wrath of the Titans as well. It's been pretty crazy, and if you're a diehard film fan it must've felt like Christmas came early.
It's not over yet as tomorrow brings the trailer for Prometheus, Ridley Scott's sci-fi film which we believe has ties to 1979's Alien, even if he continues to downplay it. It seems pretty clear that at least some of the Alien mythology will be at play, while the title 'Prometheus' seems to indicate that a greater alien species will have a hand in the evolution of a lesser one, likely to be us poor humans.
Empire has unveiled a new image from the film, featuring Michael Fassbender and his surfer boy blonde haircut as David, an android not unlike Ash or Bishop from the previous films. It doesn't actually tell us much except at some point David will carry a flashlight and hold a designer bag.
Prometheus rolls into theaters on June 8th and stars Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, and Guy Pearce.
