Ok, so the early response to Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hasn't been so hot, and this is coming from the nerd community who should be eating this up with a spoon. While I haven't seen the film yet, the clips I've seen and this new trailer give me the impression it's a dramatic improvement over the last one, which totally missed the point of the character. The duo of Neveldine/Taylor(Crank, Crank II: High Voltage) and their penchant for balls out, frantic, stylish action looks to be a perfect fit.
While nobody's expecting Nic Cage to provide an acting tour de force as the flame-headed spirit of vengeance, the additions of Ciaran Hinds(as the Devil!) and Idris Elba to the cast ensure somebody out there will know what they're doing. The tone they should be going for is the pulpy, comic violence of Drive Angry. We'll see whether the fanboy geeks were right when the film opens on February 17th 2012. For now, peep the new trailer....
