Demi Moore to cameo as Gloria Steinem in 'Lovelace' biopic

Now that she no longer has to deal with Ashton Kutcher and his lusting after chicks both on and off the set of those stupid camera commercials he does, perhaps Demi Moore can put all the b.s. aside and start taking on meaty roles again. She's been on a roll lately, starting with The Joneses last year, and this year's surprise hit, Margin Call. The jury is still out on Sam Levinson's Another Happy Day, but I've heard decent response to her performance. I just think there are few women who have the unique package of smart business acumen, angelic beauty, and pure acting talent than Moore does. She's a modern day feminist in a lot of ways, and now she'll get to play one of the pre-eminent feminists of our time in Gloria Steinem.

Moore will cameo as Steinem in Lovelace, the biopic on Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace. Starring Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard, the film by directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman will chronicle the troubled actress's life and the celebrity she attained thanks to her iconic role. Adam Brody and Eric Roberts are the other two new faces to the cast, which includes Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Hank Azaria, Romeo Brown, Bobby Cannavale, Robert Patrick, West Bentley, and Chris Noth. James Franco is still planning on making a cameo as Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner.

Brody will play Lovelace's co-star, Eric Reems, one of the most active in the business during the 1970s. Eric Roberts is lie detector expert Nat Laurendi.

Given Steinem's rather vocal stance against pornography, I'm going to assume she was not one of Lovelace's greatest supporters, which should make for some interesting scenes between Moore and Seyfried. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles, so we should see the film at some point later this year. [Variety]
