Is there a new member to the 'Man of Steel' cast?

It's a crap shoot trusting IMDB cast listings, so it's best to take any news originating from there with a healthy dose of salt. In this case, the rumor is that a young actor by the name of Robert Gerdisch may have been cast as Whitney Fordham in Man of Steel. There's even an image of the actor alongside director Zack Snyder, so it's possible this is legit. Then again this could all just be a ploy by the actor's people to get the kid some heat.

So let's take it at face value for now, and try to figure out exactly who Whitney Fordham is. It's possible he's a play on Whitney Fordman, a character who appeared pretty regularly on Smallville as Lana Lang's boyfriend who grows jealous of her friendship with Clark Kent. It sounds like a character who will fit in perfectly with Snyder's approach to the film, although the role is likely to be a small one. Last week we heard the still unconfirmed rumors of possible casting for the roles of young Clark Kent and Lana Lang, which makes me think of one proves to be true the rest will as well.

Confirmed stars include Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zorer, Christopher Meloni, and Richard Schiff. It's expected to fly into theaters on June 14th 2013. [Facebook]
