Rian Johnson reveals the 'Looper' time machine
With The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises and all the other sequels/comic book flicks expected to shatter big screens this year, there's one film that I think has more potential for greatness than any of them. That would be Looper, the third film from the uber-talented Rian Johnson(Brick, The Brothers Bloom) and his first foray into science-fiction. After flipping the film noir and heist genres on their ear with his first two movies, I can't wait to see what he does with a story that features mobsters, time travel, and Bruce Willis playing an older version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Sounds awesome.
On the Looper Tumblr account, Johnson has revealed an image of the time machine used in the film. Check it out below....
There's never been a shortage of talent jumping at the chance to be in one of Johnson's movies, and Looper might have the best yet. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a hitman in the present working for the mob of the future. To keep their hands clean, they send their enemies back in time thirty years where JGL can finish them off, until he recognizes one of the targets as an older version of himself(Bruce Willis). Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo, and Xu Qing co-star.
Looper is expected to hit theaters later this year on September 28th, but I'd kill for a shot to time travel forward and see it a little early.
