Sure Shots: 'Man of Steel'; Ryan Murphy; 'The Host'

* The latest rumor swirling around Zack Snyder's production of Man of Steel is that Dylan Sprayberry(Soccer Mom) and Jadin Gould(Battle: Los Angeles) have been cast as a young Clark Kent and Lana Lang in the superhero film.  This comes from the Man of Steel Facebook page, but there's been no confirmation of anything, with the only real evidence that both actors were in Chicago while the film was shooting there. Clark and Lana were childhood friends in Smallville(she lived right next door), and occasionally young lovers. Basically she was Lois Lane before there was a Lois Lane. Man of Steel will fly into theaters on June 14th 2013.

* Geez, Ryan Murphy, take a breath! Already juggling two successful TV shows in Glee and American Horror Story, plus a major film adaptation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, Murphy isn't slowing down a bit. In fact, he's only adding to his busy schedule. Along with Apollo 18 scribe Brian Miller, he's set to co-write an untitled sci-fi/horror film for Sony Pictures. Details remain under wraps at this point. [Variety]

* With Diane Kruger coming aboard in the last couple of days, casting on The Host is speeding up. The latest to join the adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's novel are Chandler Canterbury(Powder Blue) and Boyd Holbrook(Higher Ground), two young actors with a lot of momentum. Canterbury will the younger brother of Saoirse Ronan's character, a human under the posession of a benevolent alien known as Wanderer. Holbrook is the macho older brother to Jake Abel's character. William Hurt and Max Irons co-star. [Variety]
