Trailer Time: 'Moonrise Kingdom', written and directed by Wes Anderson

Hard to believe it's been five years since the last live-action film from Wes Anderson, that being his lifeless The Darjeeling Limited. Anderson would find greater success a couple of years later with the animated Fantastic Mr. Fox, which tapped into the spark and wit of his earlier films. Overall, it's been diminishing returns as far as I'm concerned, with all of Anderson's recent work looking like pale imitations of each other. Same characters, same idiosyncrasies, same ideas.  It's like he keeps trying to make The Royal Tenenbaums over and over again.

Hopefully Moonrise Kingdom will be where Anderson gets his groove back. The story takes place in a strange looking island town of 1960s New England, and centers on a boy and girl who fall in love, running away together. This turns the entire town upside down, prompting the local sheriff and the girl's parents to initiate a search to find them.  Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, and Edward Norton are joined by Anderson regulars, Bill Muray, Owen Wilson, and Jason Schwartzman.

I have a feeling Wes Anderson fans are going to love the love and familiar feel of the new trailer, while guys like me will remain on the fence. Moonrise Kingdom is set to open on May 15th....
