Trailer Time: 'That's What She Said', starring Anne Heche and Alia Shawkat
Jealous!! I won't be making the trip to Sundance this year, choosing to hold on for other festivals down the line, but that hasn't prevented me from getting a little envious of those who will be attending and checking out flicks I've been keeping an eye on for awhile. One of those is That's What She Said, the second directorial feature from Carrie Preston(Arlene on True Blood), one of my favorite character actresses and a talented filmmaker in her own right. The film stars Anne Heche and Marcia de Bonis as two friends who join with a neurotic interloper(Alia Shawkat) to look for love in the madcap dating scene of New York City.
In the new trailer, it appears that the low budget may actually be a benefit, giving the film a more realistic, natural look. The jokes, which all seem to revolve around sex and the overuse of the word "sex", mostly fell flat for me. Hopefully the finished product is more than what it appears to be. That's What She Said premieres on January 20th at Sundance(>sniff<). Check out the trailer below....[THR]
