Guy Pearce in a big, dumb action flick written by Luc Besson, the guy behind Taken and The Professional? Check please. After trying to hide just how absurd the whole thing looked in the first two trailers, the latest for Lockout finally embraces it's Escape From LA roots. And frankly? It looks kinda awesome.
Pearce plays Snow, a Canadian rapper who in 1993 took the world by storm with his chart-topping pseudo reggae hit, "Informer".....oh wait, that's somebody else. This Snow is a wisecracking, bad ass government agent convicted of a crime he didn't commit. He's also the best at whatever it is he does, but a loose cannon, which somehow makes him the go-to guy for the job of rescuing the President's daughter(Maggie Grace) from a maximum security prison.....in outer space. This might be the most gloriously stupid action film ever, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Did I mention that the prisoners are rioting and the prison is like hurtling towards Earth or something? Oh yeah.
