TV vet to direct Melissa McCarthy in 'Tammy'

One of the projects Melissa McCarthy has been most vocal about has nothing to do with Bridesmaids 2, but Tammy, a comedy she co-wrote with Ben Falcone. Already with a number of potential films on her schedule, McCarthy looks to be making this her top priority, and things are starting to round into shape with a new director on board.

Initially, Tate Taylor(The Help) was set to direct the story of a down on her luck woman named Tammy, who decides to quit her dead end job and hit the road with her grandmother's car. The catch is that the boozey, foul mouthed granny insists on tagging alone. Expect plenty of female bonding and growing up to take place.

With Taylor dropping out, TV director Beth McCarthy-Miller ha stepped in to fill the void. This would be her feature film debut, having helmed numerous episodes of SNL and episodes of 30 Rock and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

This seems like it'll be a pretty easy shoot, so McCarthy can probably squeeze it in between seasons of Mike & Molly.
