'Kick-Ass 2' is a reality! Jeff Wadlow to direct. Wait, who?

It took artist John Romita Jr. to lay any sort of credibility to Mark Millar's recent statements that Kick-Ass 2 would be filming this summer. After two years of lying through his teeth more often than the Romney-bot 2000, Millar appears to have actually been telling the truth for once. Or he just stumbled into being right. Whatever the case, Deadline reports that talks are underway for much of the principle cast to return, with filming set to begin this summer.

With original director Matthew Vaughn holding the rights and producing the film, but too busy with X-men: First Class, who will be the guy taking over the reins? Jeff Wadlow.  Who? Wha? Actually, Wadlow is a solid director in my book, having directed 2005's underrated slasher film, Cry_Wolf. He also helmed the high school MMA flick, Never Back Down, which was a decent 1980s throwback. Wadlow wrote the Kick-Ass 2 script, and Universal is said to be passing final judgement on a green light now.

Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are all expected to return. In the comic, Kick-Ass 2 takes place just a few months after the last story, and has Kick-Ass(Johnson) joining a team of heroes to help combat the group of villains organized by the Red Mist(Mintz-Plasse). Oh yeah, this is gonna be fun! I wonder if they'll keep the originally proposed title of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall? Let's hope so.
