Liam Neeson to star in Scott Frank's 'A Walk Among the Tombstones'

Quick: Who would win in a fight? Liam Neeson or Harrison Ford? Huh? Of course nobody could EVER kick the ass of Han Solo and Indiana Jones, but I bet you had to think about it for a second. That just goes to show how much of a badass Neeson has become since his career changing role in Taken. Now he'll go one step further and take on a role that was initially pegged for Ford to star in, landing the lead in Scott Frank's adaptation of A Walk Among the Tombstones.

Frank, who directed the great Joseph Gordon-Levitt thriller, The Lookout, will helm the film based on his own script, which he wrote ten years ago with the plan for Ford to star in. It's based on the book by crime novelist, Lawrence Block, part of a series featuring private investigator, Matthew Scudder. This won't be the first time Scudder has been portrayed on film, as Jeff Bridges played him in Eight Million Ways to Die back in 1986.  Neeson will take on the Scudder role this time, hired by a heroin dealer who wants to find the men who kidnapped his wife, then murdered her after he haggled with them over the price of her ransom.

So it's another promising, adrenaline soaked role for Neeson, who already has a ton on his plate. He'll star in Battleship, which will open tomorrow. He recently signed up to Non-Stop, from director Jaume Collet-Serra, and he'll possibly appear as Lyndon Johnson in Lee Daniels' The Butler. Oh, and let's not forget Taken 2, which you can see the first images from here. [Deadline]
