Runner Runner has all the pieces to be an amazing film, or at least one that's right up my alley. Centering on the crazy, corrupt world of online gambling, the film features a script by David Levien and Brian Koppelman, the duo behind the great poker movie, Rounders. Brad Furman(The Lincoln Lawyer) is set to direct, with Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake starring. That's a hell of a creative pedigree, and now they've added a fast-rising star to the mix.
Oliver Cooper, who most recently threw an epic bash in Project X, will play a young computer geek hired by Affleck's character, an unscrupulous online gambling billionaire living in Costa Rica. Timberlake plays a Princeton grad who also becomes embroiled in the $30B a year enterprise.
Well, this is definitely more promising than Grown Ups 2, the other film Cooper has lined up. Production looks to be kicking off on Runner Runner in June. [EW]
