The sequel to the 1984 horror classic keeps the same director in Joe Dante, but totally sheds the black horror of the original in favor of pure, unadulterated comical madness. This time, poor Gizmo the Mogwai, spawns a batch of new creatures inside a Trump Tower-esque skycraper, and hilarity on a crazy scale ensues. Not only are we introduced to new varieties of gremlin that we've never seen before, such as a female gremlin, a hyper intelligent one, and a hybrid Bat-gremlin, but it's also the first time we get to see the meek Gizmo go all Rambo on their scaly asses!
Note to the producers of the Underworld franchise: Kate Beckinsale is your meal ticket. Never let her go. After skipping out on Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Beckinsale is back as the death dealing vampire, Selene, and she's packing a bunch of new weapons and a brand new mission: stop the human-led "purge" of all vampires and lycans in an oncoming war.
1. The Vow
Somebody want to grab Nicholas Sparks and force him to watch The Vow? Maybe then he'll realize how to make a genuinely affecting romance without venturing too deep into schmaltz and formula? Perhaps part of the reason for the film's success is that it's based on a remarkable true story of happy, newly married couple(although the real life folks look NOTHING like Tatum and McAdams) who are in a terrible auto accident. Both survive, however when she awakens she remembers nothing past a certain point in time, and unfortunately the memory of her husband no longer exists. Through some seriously heartbreaking circumstances, he's forced to try and win her love all over again, and it doesn't prove to be very easy.
