The full trailer for Tyler Perry's 'Madea's Witness Protection'

Tyler Perry is a smart man. That much is obvious. He's managed to carve out his own niche in the African-American film community in a way nobody else has before, and despite the rather pointed criticisms lodged against his Madea character, Perry continues to thrust his cross-dressing character into the spotlight. The funny thing is that Madea isn't always the thrust of all the films she appears in, but since she's Perry's most marketable character, her name appears in almost everything.  Madea's Witness Protection seems to be a case where she's an integral part of the story and not just comic relief.

We were treated to a brief teaser trailer last month, a horribly unfunny introduction to a story involving a corporate financial officer(Eugene Levy) at the center of a Ponzi scheme, who enters witness protection when his life is threatened. So where's the logical place for him and his family to stay? At Madea's house down south, of course. Now that the full trailer has been unveiled, we see just what kind of hijinks can ensue when Madea is forced into close proximity of too many white people. She threatens the children, dumps water on their heads, and probably caused Levy's character a few nightmares by offering to jump in bed with him naked. Urgh.  Somehow this ends up with Madea at an airport, where we get to see her struggle with the TSA. Ho ho ho.  Levy looks perfectly comfortable, though, probably because it didn't take much for him to slip back into Bringing Down the House mode.

Denise Richards, Romeo, Doris Roberts, Marla Gibbs, Tom Arnold, and John Amos will co-star when Madea's Witness Protection opens on June 29th...
