The Sunday Drive 5/20/12

3. The Dictator
The perfect way to help us all forget Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen provides the most jacked up version of Coming to America ever in The Dictator. He plays General Aladeen, a comically evil ruler of the fictional nation of Wadiya, who journeys to our country in order to help prevent democracy from spreading.

2. Bernie
The best movie about small town America in years. Bernie stars Jack Black in the unbelievable true story of how the residents of Carthage, TX were willing to completely overlook a murder committed by one of their own. Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine co-star.
1. The Avengers
You don't need to hear anything more from me on this one. If you haven't seen it, what the Hell are you doing?

DVD Pick of the Week:  Chronicle
The best movie about super powers didn't come from Marvel or DC, but a little known filmmaker named Josh Trank and starring a bunch of unknowns. Chronicle is a mesmerizing experience, full of rich characters in a world that feels believable. The film follows a handful of average teenagers who are mysteriously given fantastic abilities after making a strange discovery. As their powers begin to grow to incredible levels, they make for a volatile combination with the angst, hormones, and pressures of growing up. Is it simply too much to handle? And if it is, who could put a stop to it?
