1st photos from Noah Baumbach's 'Frances Ha', starring Greta Gerwig
As if the opening line-up for TIFF 2012 wasn't amazing enough, one of the big surprises was the appearance of a film Noah Baumbach and his girlfriend(*grumble*) Greta Gerwig have been hinting about for awhile. Titled Frances Ha, Baumbach and Gerwig co-wrote the script with the latter starring, and if these first photos are anything to by it's going to be one gorgeous piece of work.
Shot in black and white and clocking in at a brisk 86 minutes, the story has Gerwig as an aspiring dancer who "moves to New York City becomes caught up in a whirlwind of flighty fair-weather friends, diminishing fortunes and career setbacks". The film has been described as a love story in the past, and these images certainly show what could be an interesting relationship between Gerwig's character and the one played by co-star Mickey Sumner(Imogene, Last Chance Harvey).
Baumbach will be shopping the film around at the festival in hopes of landing distribution, and I'm guessing he won't have too difficult of a time...
