Ethan Hawke confirms work on 'Before Sunset' sequel in Greece
Some keen detective work conducted yesterday led many to speculate that Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater were in Greece developing a third chapter in their beloved indie romances, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. The film had been set to film this summer, but co-star and co-writer Julie Delpy said that it was still at least a year off while they finished up the script. So while there was no confirmation of what the duo were doing in Greece, I speculated that they may have just been doing some location scouting for the film, rumored to be titled Before Midnight. Turns out I wasn't far off the mark.
In a conversation with MTV, Hawke confirmed that they are indeed in-country doing some very early production work on the film, with no shooting actually taking place....
Hawke: “We’re here writing a third installment to ‘Before Sunrise.’ If it works out, we’ll film it, and if it doesn’t, we won’t. It’s not really worth talking about. I’m just here developing.”
I can think of worse places to hang out and draw inspiration from than Greece. Must be nice. Sounds like we're still a ways off from seeing this happen, but I'm excited to see what direction they go in.
