Lars von Trier eying Shia LaBeouf for 'The Nymphomaniac'

Before Transformers, what was the last indie film Shia LaBeouf had done? Battle of Shaker Heights? Seriously, it's been nothing but franchises and popcorn flicks for like a decade, and now that he's done getting chased around by giant robots, LaBeouf has been venturing into arthouse territory in a major way. First, it was joining John Hillcoat's Lawless, followed up by Robert Redford's The Company You Keep. But those are nothing compared to the intense experience he may be about to face.

According to THR, LaBeouf has entered talks to co-star in The Nymphomaniac, that porn flick Lars von Trier is developing with Charlotte Gainsbourg starring alongside Stellan Skarsgard.  Ok, perhaps calling it a "porn flick" is a bit much, but there will be lots of sex and be quite explicit. Fun for all! Split into two parts, the story follows Joe(Gainsbourg), who recounts to her husband(Skarsgard) all of her erotic adventures from her childhood to the age of 50. Nicole Kidman, who starred in von Trier's Dogville, may be turning up for a role. So might Willem Dafoe, who starred in von Trier's disturbing Antichrist with Gainsbourg.

LaBeouf's role is unclear at this stage, as much of the film is still shrouded in some mystery. It's von Trier, so it's to be expected. Hopefully we'll learn more soon, and maybe we'll see it on the festival circuit next year.
