'Galaxy Quest' director to helm 'Bill & Ted 3'

We've been hearing about the possibility of a third Bill & Ted movie for quite awhile now, and unlike the continued roadblocks that plagued Ghostbusters 3, pretty much everybody involved was eager to see the project come to fruition. After Keanu Reeves predicted last year that a script from original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon was just a few weeks away, it wasn't until a few months ago it finally arrived. Reeves and co-star Alex Winter have been gung-ho for the project, and now it seems to be moving forward with a director now coming aboard.

Dean Parisot, best known for Galaxy Quest and the upcoming Red sequel, has been brought on to direct the film, the first since 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Good lord let's hope it's better than that was. The original 1989 film was actually quite funny and clever in a lot of ways, and if the plot synopsis Reeves revealed some time ago sticks, the threequel could be more along those lines. It  picks up with Bill & Ted as middle-aged men who never achieved one of their goals from the last film, which was to write a song that changed the world. So now they're on a course to try and fulfill that destiny, and somewhere along the way are forced to travel back in time.

I hate the idea of seeing a Bill & Ted without the presence of funnyman, George Carlin, so hopefully they can find a way to pay tribute to him in some way. Still, if I had to choose between this and Ghostbusters 3, it'd be Bill & Ted every single time. The budget is expected to be on the smaller side, with financing still being put together. [Vulture]
