Jim Starlin confirms Thanos is in 'The Avengers 2' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Ever since the mad Titan Thanos appeared at the end of The Avengers, Marvel set out on a course that has their Phase Two films taking a decidedly cosmic turn. The Guardians of the Galaxy were added to the line-up, featuring a number of characters with extremely close ties to Thanos, and considering he's one of the most powerful villains in the entire Marvel Universe it seemed like a no-brainer that he'd be the chief baddie for The Avengers 2.

Cosmic Book News(via our friends at BleedingCool) has a report from one of their readers who spoke with Thanos creator Jim Starlin who confirmed that the character will appear in both Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers sequel....

Armand Rock attended the recent Montreal Comic-Con and spoke with Jim Starlin who said that the deal is already in place. Jim Starlin even mentioned that Thanos will appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie in 2014 and The Avengers 2 in 2015.
The news is not that surprising, as most assumed Thanos would go on to become the Avengers major villain in The Avengers 2, but what it may reveal is that there might be another villain in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

I suppose we won't get a true confirmation for awhile, but Starlin's not one to shoot his mouth off so I take him at his word. Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1st 2014, followed up by The Avengers 2 on May 1st 2015.
