New poster and release date for 'Hitchcock' with Anthony Hopkins

When talk of the clear-cut Oscar hopefuls comes up, one film that is often forgotten is Hitchock, Fox Searchlight's adaptation of Stephen Rebello's book that explores the personal and professional difficulties the legendary director faced making Psycho. Part of the reason it gets left out is that there was a very real chance the film wouldn't be ready by the end of this year. Fortunately for us, things seem to have worked out as it's now been pegged for release on November 23rd, so clearly the studio has some serious award season aspirations.

Directed by Sacha Gervasi(Anvil) and written by John McLaughlin(Black Swan), Anthony Hopkins stars as Alfred Hichcock, impressively adorning this newly released poster. The film will mostly chronicle all the pains he went through in bringing Psycho to the big screen, faced with a studio that didn't care one whit about it and provided little financial support. Helen Mirren plays Hitchcock's wife, with Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, with Toni Collette, Michael Stuhlbarg, Danny Huston, Michael Wincott, Wallace Langham, Kurtwood Smith, and Ralph Macchio(!!!!) making up an Oscar-worthy ensemble.

Expect a trailer to hit the web soon.
