Sam Rockwell, Marisa Tomei, and Brian Geraghty join indie comedy 'Why Now'
How lucky do you have to be to get Sam Rockwell and Marisa Tomei for your directorial debut? Did the fairy of good fortune touch down and plant a big wet one on your arse or something? Rockwell, who somehow still hasn't won an Oscar for something(he should've for Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) is coming off strong festival reviews of his performance in Seven Psychopaths. Tomei is an Oscar winner and two-time nominee who makes every film better and a whole lot sexier.
The two are set to bring some flash to the indie comedy, Why Now, the directorial debut from writers Michael Godere and Ivan Martin. Tomei and Rockwell will be joined by Brian Geraghty, who most will remember as the guy in The Hurt Locker not named Jeremy Renner or Anthony Mackie. No plot details are available at this point, but we do know that Godere and Martin have written roles for themselves, as well.
With a scant $500,000 budget, filming is set to begin in New York in November. Rockwell's Seven Psychopaths opens on October 12th. Tomei will next star in Parental Guidance with Billy Crystal and Bette Midler. Geraghty will rejoin Anthony Mackie in the ensemble comedy, 10 Years. [Screen Daily]
