'Paranormal Activity 5' hits Halloween 2013; Latino spinoff finds director
Well nobody should be surprised that Paramount is already greenlighting a fifth installment of their small budget, box office crushing Paranormal Activity franchise. The fourth film just took in $56.7M globally against a $5M budget. While a weaker opening than previous flicks that's still a significant haul. So they've gone ahead and set up the next film for Halloween 2013. Details are few at this point, including a director and writer, but does any of that really matter at this point? They could get a ham sandwich to sit behind the camera and it would make $200M easy.
Also, remember that Latino spin off we've been hearing about and was teased at the end of Paranormal Activity 4? Christopher Landon, who wrote the highly lauded Disturbia script and also the werewolf flick Blood & Chocolate, will take over the directing chores. The film will be partially shot in Spanish, feature a primarily Latino cast, and will include the same demon from the series. To me that sounds like Kate Featherston will be appearing, but it's always possible the same demon could possess somebody else. Landon has been dabbling mostly in TV lately, as this will be his first feature directing gig since 2010's ensemble Burning Palms.
Look for the Latino spin off to creep up on ya some time next spring. In the mean time, check out a bootleg look at the tease for it....[Deadline]
