While as stylized as ever, there seems to be a concerted effort to flesh out some of the characters in Django Unchained via the last couple of trailers. The most recent domestic trailer introduced us to Stephen(Samuel L. Jackson), the right-hand man of the evil Calvin Candie(Leonardo DiCaprio). Now the latest international trailer shines a similar spotlight on Dr. King Schultz, played by Christoph Waltz.
Schultz is the German bounty hunter who we know sets Django(Jamie Foxx) free in order to hunt down the infamous Brittle Brothers, and ultimately save Django's wife, Broomhilda Von Shaft(Kerry Washington) from Candie's clutches. What we didn't know until this trailer is why Schultz left his old life behind to take up bounty hunting. It makes for a nice revealing moment amidst all the stylish violence.
Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained opens on December 25th....
