New poster and teaser trailer for superhero comedy 'Alter Egos'

Considering his close association with comic books and the way he weaves them so neatly into his films, it's surprising that Kevin Smith has yet to direct his own superhero movie. I'm sure it'll happen one day, probably for Warner Bros. And I wouldn't be all that shocked if he directed an episode of Arrow, since he's such a fan of the character. Or maybe Marvel can convince him to take over Daredevil now? Smith's written some impressive runs for both characters. For now, we'll have to settle for Smith helping others get their comic book films made through his SmodCast Pictures label.

Comingsoon.net has revealed the new poster for Alter Egos, a superhero comedy from writer/director Jordan Galland. The film stars Danny Masterson(That '70s Show), Brooke Nevin(Breakout Kings), Kris Lemche, John Ventimiglia, Joey Kern, and Christine Evangelista. The story takes place at a time when superheroes have lost government funding and public support, and follows a superhero in the midst of an emotional crisis who meets a girl that can help him overcome it.

There's also a teaser trailer which you can check out below, and judging from it Galland has really tapped into Smith's sensibilities. This looks like less of a film about superpowers and more about the people in the costumes, and their various neuroses and relationship hang-ups. Looks like fun. Count me in. Alter Egos opens in New York on October 19th and hits VOD on November 20th....
