Woody Harrelson and Martin Sheen to star in 9/11 conspiracy film 'September Morn'

Movies involving the 9/11 attacks have mostly proven unsuccessful at the box office, for obvious reasons. Nobody wants to relive the horror of that day, or see the event exploited for financial gain more than it already has been by defense contractors and warmongers cashing in. Chances are a film that wants to re-open the 9/11 can of worms by exploring the various conspiracy theories surrounding it probably won't do well, either, even with a cast that by any measure is pretty impressive.

Woody Harrelson and Martin Sheen are set to star in September Morn, a film that hopes to highlight some of the rantings of those tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theorists blogging in their mom's basement. They'll be joined by Ed Asner, Esai Morales, Daniel Sunjata, Judd Nelson, and John Heard in a Twelve Angry Men-style film that follows a group taking another look at the independent investigation on 9/11. Sheen, Harrelson, and Asner(who was awesome on John Fugelsang's new show a couple weeks ago) are all part of Actors and Artists for 9/11 Truth, so it makes sense they'd want to be a part of this.

As for who is directing it? BJ Davis, who has spent the bulk of his career directing celluloid crap like Laser Mission(with Brandon Lee) and Forget About It(with Burt Reynolds). Not promising. But I'm curious to see what approach they take. Oliver Stone has been pretty good about weaving conspiracy theory into his films in a plausible manner, but when done wrong and it runs the risk of becoming a punchline. [Deadline]
