Colin Trevorrow squashes those 'Star Wars' rumors

For the record, I still think that Safety Not Guaranteed's Colin Trevorrow will ultimately be the guy who ends up directing Star Wars: Episode VII, but he's sure making it tough to hold on to that opinion. After being named as one of the contenders for the job after George Lucas reached out to him personally, a statement Trevorrow made last summer where he talks about his upcoming project as a much-loved film with a mythology that fans would crucify him for screwing up, the speculation was obviously that he was talking Star Wars. Well, maybe not.

Trevorrow took to Twitter to address the issue directly, and here's what he had to say....

A follower asked him to clarify whether he's officially out of the running for the job and his response was....
So let's assume he's telling the truth here, ok? What other film could he be talking about? If we factor George Lucas into the equation there's really only one option, right? Indiana Jones.  Producer Frank Marshall has said Indy 5 isn't a top priority right now, and last we heard the rights are in a bit of limbo, but that doesn't mean it's not being talked about. Then again it could be something entirely different not Lucas related at all.

Trevorrow's still new enough to this sort of media scrutiny that it's hard to tell if he's one of those filmmakers who likes to jerk us around, so for now I'm going to stick to my original position and hope he's just having a bit of fun.
