Sure Shots: McG; Anton Yelchin; 'Pinocchio'

* Much to my chagrin, McG keeps lining up work, promising that potentially promising films will wind up lesser than they could be. Just a few days after signing to direct Magic Club, about the famous Hollywood private club for the Academy of Magical Arts, McG has now signed on to produce and potentially direct an adaptation of Gitty Daneshvari's School of Fear series. The story follows four children each suffering from extreme phobias, who are sent to a school to learn how to conquer their fears, only to discover that their teacher may be the most terrifying of all. [Variety]

* Even though he's got Star Trek Into Darkness and an adaptation of Odd Thomas on the way, Anton Yelchin has mostly been padding his schedule with smaller indie films of late. The latest addition is Broken Horses, the English-language debut of Indian director Vidhu Vinod Chopra (3 Idiots). Co-starring Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Marquette, Thomas Jane, Sean Patrick Flannery, and Maria Valverde, the film focuses on gang warfare along the U.S./Mexico border.[Variety]

* Remember that live-action Pinocchio film that Tim Burton was circling that may star Robert Downey Jr.? We learned about it at the beginning of the year, and while neither is confirmed yet the script is already getting a rewrite. Jane Goldman(Kick-Ass) is taking over scripting duties from Bryan Fuller(Dead Like Me), penning the adventures of Gepetto as he goes on an adventure to find the missing Pinocchio. [THR]
