1st poster for Bong Joon-Ho's 'Snow Piercer'
Maybe all of South Korea's finest directors got together and decided 2013 was the year they took over Hollywood. Park Chan-Wook is set to make his English-language debut with the highly anticipated Stoker, while Kim Ji-Woon's The Last Stand has Arnold Schwarzenegger blowing stuff up. But perhaps the most intriguing project of all is Snow Piercer, the post-apocalyptic science fiction film from The Host and Mother director Bong Joon-Ho.
A rather simple first poster has been revealed which basically serves only to remind us just how incredible the cast is. Based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, the film takes place almost entirely on a train populated by the few human survivors of a global warming catastrophe that has left the planet a desolate, frozen wasteland. Trapped on the perpetually speeding locomotive, it isn't long before a class system emerges and a revolution starts brewing. Think a futuristic Lord of the Flies.
Starring an international line-up with Chris Evans, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer, Alison Pill, Jamie Bell, Song Kang-Ho, Ed Harris, and Ewen Bremner, Snow Piercer is expected to open next summer. [CMB]
