New 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' trailer dials back the blood
There probably aren't a lot of high expectations for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but at the very least it looked like it could be a dose of R-rated gory fun to kick off the new year. So why, if you're Paramount, would you release a new trailer just days away from its debut that strips away the one thing that kept it at least marginally interesting?
Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton snooze their way through the latest trailer, which maintains much of the same action and bad jokes we've already seen, only minus the over-the-top blood and guts splattering in 3D. The title pretty much says it all, as the pair play the fairy tale characters we all know, only fifteen years older and stalking witches with powered up weaponry. At least Famke Janssen seems to be having a good time as the lead wicked witch of the piece, and Peter Stormare's mustache is definitely enjoying itself. Otherwise this looks very much like a January movie.
Directed by Tommy Wirkola, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters arrives on January 11th 2013.
