Just last week it was looking like Michael Bay had found the guy who would be his new Shia LaBeouf in Transformers 4. That guy was Brenton Thwaites, who reportedly was signed alongside Nicola Peltz, beating out a number of up 'n coming actors for the part. What I apparently missed was Bay quickly debunking that story, at least in regards to the male part, and now we see he may have gone in a different direction.
IFTN now reports that Irish actor Jack Reynor(What Richard Did) has been personally selected by Bay to play the race car driver boyfriend to Peltz, who happens to be the daughter to Mark Wahlberg's character. Reynor auditioned a handful of times for the part, and impressed Bay enough that he's now taken it to Paramount for approval. Reynor recently completed work on The Delivery Man, which is the Starbuck remake starring Vince Vaughn.
Reynor and Thwaites are also due to star with Shailene Woodley in the teen franchise film, Divergent. Whichever one ends up with the part, we'll get to see them in action when Transformers 4 opens on June 2tth 2014.
